Abroad from the bright lights of Hollywood, Ali Larter has constructed her ideal home. The actress, who has always lived in large cities, surprisingly found her place in the little hamlet of Sun Valley, Idaho, with her husband Hayes MacArthur and their two children. Her new Paramount+ series Landman arrives in November.
“We fell in love with the beauty of the mountains and their quiet grandness,”
Larter stated “We fell in love with the beauty of the mountains and their quiet grandness, Neither of us had ever lived in a small town before, People look out for each other. There’s a real sense of community here and we’re so happy to be a part of it.”
The pair says that in addition to the intimate atmosphere, the landscape frequently acts as a gentle reminder to savor each moment.
“Most of the time in my life, I feel like I’m going 1,000 miles an hour and these giant rocks chill me out,” she added.
MacArthur said “The mountains have a way of grounding you and slowing you down—especially when you’re stuck in traffic because there’s a herd of elk blocking the road.”
During the COVID-19 epidemic, the couple drove from Los Angeles to Idaho with their dog Nala and two children, Theodore and Vivienne, and to their surprise, they ended up there.
“We figured it was an opportunity to go on an adventure as a family”
Larter said Since the movie business was “at a total standstill, We figured it was an opportunity to go on an adventure as a family. And we just started driving north.”
They started construction on their ideal Sun Valley home in 2022, and they nearly completed it a year ago. The 4,400 square foot, recently built property is situated on two acres of land.
Larter aimed to create a home that complemented Sun Valley’s natural geography without a traditional cabin feel, with glass walls that accentuated the stunning scenery, enhancing the home’s overall aesthetic appeal.
With the assistance of designer Amanda Masters, who had created their previous house in the Hollywood Hills almost 15 years prior, they realized their vision for the interiors.
The kitchen, with its waterfall countertop and Italian marble island, is one of Larter’s favorite spaces. Additionally, Larter loves that the area has a breathtaking view of the mountains, which brings her family together for meals.
She said “We believe in the importance of family dinner and it’s great when the kitchen is flooded with light. It becomes the most beautiful part of the home,”
