French film ‘Cuties’ is on the headlines as controversies sparks. There has been an outbreak of Hashtag movement over twitter asking to boycott Netflix as many claims that young starts are getting sexualized. Cuties, also known as Mignonnes is made to portray young starts in a sexualized manner.
Inappropriate Image used to promote a film?
Earlier in August, Netflix had to scrap the artwork they used to promote the french film Mignonnes. They were forced to withdraw it due to the first wave of criticisms against it. The artwork was released in August in various theatres in France. Netflix later apologized as have used ‘Inappropriate’ image.

2nd wave criticism have blown the internet
The director of the Cuties Maimouna Doucoure started streaming the film on 9th September and immediately the twitter broke into the hashtag war field. More than 200,000 tweets are having the hashtag #CancelNetflix. It is a trending hashtag used on Twitter recently.
American Political Field against Cuties
From 10th September, the politicians have started intervening in with their uproars against the film all over. A petition has been produced in Change.Org which gives a call to cancel Netflix subscription. Oppositions of Cuties have the ball in their court as they have managed 600,000 signatures against the French movie Cuties.
The former Republican candidate of Congress from California has tweeted saying In America child-pornography is Illegal. Another California Republican, Beatrice Cardenas, also happens to be the mother of an 8-year-old girl, said that she strongly supports the campaign #CancelNetflix.
Omar Navarro, a Republican Politician has allegedly said that it is unethical to portray the girls and boys as hypersexualized.

Cuties have won the director’s award at the Sundance film Festival speaks about a little Senegalese girl of 11 who lives in Paris. The girl is named Amy and has joined a dance group that was formed by three girls in Amy’s neighbourhood to escape the restrictions they face in their family.

Netflix in a statement has said that Cuties is emancipation against the sexualization of young children. It is one of the award-winning films and possesses a powerful story that portrays the pressure which young girls face both on social media and society while they grow up. And anyone who cares to watch this film will be encouraged as it is to break the regressions, and important issues have been talked about.
Voices for the movie
American actor Tessa Thompson said that the movie was beautiful. Also, she is disappointed by the view of the larger section as the film has portrayed how the preadolescent girls are hyper-sexualized. Rather the opposite, it is made to question the exact thing.
